Finalists named for PBT Awards

Anticipation and anticipation is growing around the11th National Pacific Business Trust Awards on June 22.

 The finalists have been named across the six award categories and feature a wide range of innovative businesses making an impact in the Pacific community. 

Staged at Eden Park in Auckland, these awards highlight the transformation of innovation into business success and celebrate the growing number of Pacific entrepreneurs and established businesses that contribute positively to the New Zealand economy.

Nominations for the 2018 awards were widely received over all six categories and host Pacific Business Trust (PBT) says it has been pleasing to see a growing number of Pacific businesses thriving. 

Providing economic development services to Pacific business owners and entrepreneurs in New Zealand, PBT was established in 1985. 

The Trust is focused on fostering Pacific business innovation and enabling Pacific communities to build sustainable businesses which can operate and compete with the best businesses and organisations globally. 

The 2018 finalists for the National Pacific Business Trust Awards are: 

HATCHing Pacific Business - The Massey University HATCHing Pacific Business Award recognises businesses in their first one to two years of start-up that can demonstrate promising results and future potential:

  • Recoveroom

Pacific Business - The Pacific Business Award recognises a business that demonstrates innovation, strategic thinking and a track record of sustainable growth:

  • Devitise Marketing
  • OPSEC Solutions
  • Pacific Biofert

Pacific Impact - The Panuku Development Pacific Impact Award recognises businesses generating results with impact. You will be achieving amplified benefits across social, cultural, environmental and economic indicators:

  • Cook Island Development Agency New Zealand (CIDANZ)
  • Connect Global
  • Kokiti Workshops (formerly Meraki Workshops)
  • Pacific Biofert

Pacific Innovation - The Microsoft Pacific Innovation Award recognises an innovative business that has delivered a positive outcome, whether it is tangible value, creation of a new market or a competitive advantage. Successful businesses will demonstrate that the actions required to deliver this innovation value are new:

  • Culturalhubb
  • Lot Eight
  • The Food Company NZ
  • Vaka Interactiv

Pacific Social Enterprise - The Pacific Social Enterprise Award is for Pacific businesses that are led by an economic, social, cultural, or environmental mission consistent with a community benefit, such as reinvesting profits back into the community:

  • Aotearoa Tongan Health Workers Association (ATHWA) trading name “Akiheuho”
  • KidsCoin
  • Moana Research

Pacific Woman in Business - The Sisters United Pacific Woman in Business Award recognises successful Pacific women who own at least 50% of their business:
