Valentino Pepa-Tusani among Honourees at Pō Fiefia Event
It was without doubt the golden moment for young Valentino Pepa-Tusani from Holy Family School in Porirua, to be part of the Ministry’s Pō Fiefia event to celebrate the achievements of great Pacific New Zealanders last Saturday, 9 September.
Valentino was among many who entered the Ministry’s competition to win double tickets to the Pō Fiefia event.
Valentino was rewarded with a special prize on the night as the youngest from outside of Auckland to attend the event.
Ms Pauline Winter (QSO), former Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry, presented Valentino with his prize.
Clearly the show of unbridled emotion did not escape Valentino, who sat with his grandmother in the audience.
Chris Theobald, Principal of Holy Family School, entered the Ministry’s competition with the hope a free double pass for one of his students.
Holy Family School was among the 50 selected from over 150 entries.
Valentino was nominated by his school, which funded his travel and accommodation to attend the event in Auckland.
Valentino also got to meet one of his idols, popular Pacific comedian Tofiga Fepuleai, who was the Master of Ceremony for the event and he described it as “one of the best days of his life”.
He was lucky enough to be among 500 guests, including many Pacific champions who were part of the Ministry’s Pō Fiefia event.
