Technology is opening new doors for Solomon Group clients taking part in the Ministry for Pacific Peoples’ Tupu Aotearoa initiative.

Tupu Aotearoa connects Pacific peoples with local providers who supports individuals to access work or learning opportunities on their journey to employment, further training, or study.

Recently, Solomon Group presented several clients with a laptop and accessories, and already the devices are making a significant impact on their daily lives.

Solomon Group is a Māori Private Training Establishment (PTE) which specialises in the provision of foundation skills and self-development.

One of its current priorities has been to provide essential tools for the Tupu Aotearoa clients.

The organisation’s Tupu Aotearoa Auckland Team Leader Jermaine Ioane says there is a specific emphasis on making clients’ academic journey more accessible without the barriers.

“These individuals, often facing unique challenges, have now received these invaluable resources, greatly enhancing their ability to engage in academic pursuits,” he says.

The positive response from the clients has been overwhelming, and having access to laptops and essential accessories not only facilitates smoother completion of assignments and assessments but also serves as a powerful tool for empowerment, Jermaine adds.

“The newfound technological support opens up a world of possibilities, allowing these individuals to navigate their academic journeys with increased confidence and efficiency.”

By providing the right tools for success, and addressing the digital divide, Solomon Group is aiming to create a more inclusive educational environment while championing the cause of equitable education.

“The laptops collected serve as more than just devices; they represent a bridge to education, empowerment, and a brighter future,” Jermaine says.

“Solomon Group under the Tupu Aotearoa service is an example of the positive change achieved when communities come together with a shared commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting one another in their educational endeavours.

“In essence, the laptops for Solomon Group clients serve as more than just tools for academic tasks; they stand as symbols of solidarity, community engagement, and the transformative power of education.”
